Secret Niche Simple Rules for Selling Online
What exactly should constitute TITLE and DESCRIPTION? TITLE should contain assumed PROBLEM a solution to which is being searched for by a visitor, the perceived RESULTS of this solution, and contain a QUESTION-IDEA by this hypothetical visitor as HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS RESULT. Actually, the last ingredient will correspond closely to that visitor's SEARCH STRING (query). In other words, your TITLE would carry this meaning : Description will contain a solution offered in the web page. Description gives a short annotation of a web page (or the whole web site if the description belongs to the index page), and gives an ANSWER to the QUESTION stated in your TITLE block. Web page will contain a complete explanation of what solution is being offered, why this solution is the best for THIS VISITOR (the solution should be targeted at a specific category of users, it cannot be "one size fits all"), how it will help the visitor achieve sought-for results, and how these results would fix/eliminate/improve his problem/situation. ALL-CAPS words are the key words, they originate in your TITLE and DESCRIPTION, and then get scattered all over your descriptive page text being a part of that text, or its subpages, links, and sublinks. Now, let's move on to practical things. Once you've decided on what service or merchandise you will provide to your selected audience (WHO - your targeted visitor) we will try to figure out how to write your DESCRIPTION and TITLE. We must know WHO is our user, WHY he should buy from us, WHAT is he going to do with what he buys. And then we will start thinking BACKWARDS - We are selling (offering) a solution for WHOM to achieve WHAT RESULTS to WHAT PROBLEM? And step by step, we will figure out first - WHO, second - WHAT RESULTS, third - WHAT PROBLEM. For example, we have Christian T-shirts to sell. Step 1. - WHO is the user? - Those young people that are willing to work in such dark places as night clubs, bars, dancing clubs to save unsaved youth, and bring them to Jesus. OK. That's great. But they look different. Let's assume that cool T-shirts will help them blend in, and work on more relaxed, personal level. Step 2. WHAT RESULTS? - Bring young missioners into better and easier contact with unsaved. Step 3. WHAT PROBLEM? - Help young missionaries to save unsaved. Bring more people to Jesus. Therefore, a variant of our TITLE now may be something like this -
Now that we've completed our TITLE and DESCRIPTION we will pick the KEY words around which and with which we will be writing our text copy. PROBLEM translates into SAVE MORE UNSAVED, RESULTS - BRING YOUNG/YOUTH TO JESUS, WHO - CHRISTIAN, HOW - EVANGELIZE, NEW METHOD, CHRISTIAN APPAREL, CHRISTIAN T-SHIRT, SWEATSHIRT, MESSAGE, JESUS. And here's the main set of key words - Second example is about selling customized calendars online. Thinking backwards - We are selling (offering) a solution for WHOM to achieve WHAT RESULTS to WHAT PROBLEM? - Since calendars are essentially a propaganda material, we will offer them to social groups/movements with an idea/cause to propagate. The results would be - the message delivered to more people, to more potential activists, partisans, participants, and supporters. The problem being solved - not enough active members. Third example is about selling personal horoscopes. Horoscope is a tool for personal improvement/self-help. Therefore, WHO - people that want to improve their relationships, change their life styles. RESULTS - better relationships, finally met that Mr. Right that she's been looking for years and years, in vain. PROBLEM - Where to find my Mr. Right? Bad relationships.
