Nikolina, Griechenland, Santorin (14 Tage) Reisen Buchen
Santorini Greece. British and German tourists turn up in droves to take in this island Santorin volcano with its breathless views, sulphurous air and volcanic nights in Santorini. The Santorin island is a magnet for cruise ships to Santorini and the main town of Thira a must for cruising British and American tourists. The Santorini island is all that remains of a volcanic eruption the occurred around 1640 BC. Visitors sailing into the flooded crater (or caldera) are greeted by dizzying cliffs with dazzling white villages. Those sheer cliffs of red and black can feel intimidating and the island beaches of lifeless ash-grey sand are mediocre at best. The white cube houses and blue domed churches may tumble attractively down the cliff side in the capital Thira but its streets are heavily developed with expensive cafes, trendy shops, and near nightmare swarms of tourists. The air is sulphurous like in hell and the atmosphere definitely combustible - but this is, after all, an active Greek volcano and fumes and ashes from the volcanic caldera are mostly responsible for the beautiful sunsets that the Santorini island is most famous for. The eruption of the volcano Thera, one of the worst ever, is generally accepted as the cause of the plagues, famines, etc in Egypt which lead to the Moses myth. Even the pillar of fire to the north, with Santorini Island being among the remains.
The Santorini island capital is THIRA. Thira overlooks a huge caldera above some 300m of sheer black, red and brown stratified cliffs. Cruise ships anchor by the dozen in the bay below but the harbour is preposterously little more than a quayside facility for British tourists and you wouldn't wish to get stuck there for any length of time.
Embarking British tourists are pestered in Thira with generous offers of a lonely mule hire ride up a steep, dazzling, zigzag staircase or they can opt for the swifter and more sedate Austrian-built cablecar. It is no more safe to mount a mule, though the saddles do seem popular with monstrously overweight and overeating Americans. The grim-faced American riders can be seen bouncing along, scraping thighs and legs against the rough stone walls. Mule owners know full well their business does not rely on any customer satisfaction - there is always the next cruise ship. Riding a mule down is an even worse mistake.
Christians point to the Ipuwer manuscript as proof of Exodus but neglect to mention where it talks of the ground shaking for years. The secret manuscript clearly documents the effects of Thera's eruption on Egypt where falling volcanic ashes clogged rivers and covered fields, poisoning animals and people alike. And the Thera eruption also wiped out Atlantis (Atland as it's called in Oera Linda Book), whose main island was Thera. They were also called the Minoans, and their other island was Crete (also incidentally covered by Theran ash).
Mike Baillie says: "In 1988 the observation was made that narrowest-ring events in Irish sub-fossil oak chronologies appeared to line up with large acidities in the Greenland ice records from Camp Century and Dye3. Three of the events, at tree-ring ages 2345 BC, 1628 BC and 1159 BC turned out to be of particular interest as they contributed to debates on the Hekla 4 eruption in Iceland, Santorini [Thera] in the Aegean, and, possibly, Hekla 3..." Of course, there are some good grounds to combine the 1628 BC event with Santorini/Thera eruption, but Hekla 4 looks more like a later event, ca. 2300 BC, and vice versa the 2350 BC event doesn't look like a volcanic event. Also the connection between Hekla 3 and the 1159 BC event is questionable, because of its larger context from Mycenean to Shang dynasty China. Baillie, however, has later come to the conclusion that only 1628 BC is volcano-based, but 2345BC and 1159BC are not, but related to NEO problems with bolides and comets hitting the Earth.
