ALICIA LAWHON BIOGRAPHY

Alicia Lawhon was born in Nayarit, Mexico. She was inspired by her grandmother who sewed garments from recycled fabrics and hand crocheted silk, to become fashion designer. She began sewing her own clothes in Hollywood in the 1980s, beginning with the first garment she ever made, a pair of bondage pants. Always a fashion person, she kept a "dress" diary in high school so that she will never be seen in the same outfit twice.

HARD WORK IS SECRET TO HER SUCCESS

Alicia Lawhon began her fashion career from the retail sector, working at Ron Herman/ Fred Segal as a sales clerk first, then being promoted to a manager and then a buyer. In 1996, she became a full time designer. Alicia Lawhon's clothing has appeared in numerous music videos, films and television shows. She has created custom-made clothes for Alanis Morisette, Christina Aguilera and Anthony Kiedis among others, and recently designed clothes for Aerosmith's Superbowl half-time performance. Celebrity clients include Winona Ryder, Linda Evangelista, Liv Tyler, Mick Jagger, Sting and Michael Stipes. She was awarded a Fresh Faces Award by GenArt, received an award for co-founding the Coalition of Los Angeles Designers and was selected to represent the United States at the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers Show.
